Marine 316 Stainless Steel Porthole

Marine 316 stainless steel porthole is an indispensable key component in the construction of the ship, made of 316 stainless steel. 316 stainless steel because of its added molybdenum, compared with 304 stainless steel, in the resistance to seawater corrosion, high temperature and acid and alkali resistance performance is significantly improved, can effectively resist the marine environment of the salt spray, the impact of the waves and chemical erosion, to provide safe and reliable ship lighting, ventilation and emergency! The structure usually consists of a window frame, a glass window and a window frame. Its structure usually consists of window frame, glass, sealing tape, locking device and other components, both high-strength and sealing, to protect the safety of ship navigation.

Suitable for all kinds of sea areas, including offshore and ocean routes, especially in high salinity, high humidity, strong wind and wave environment, 316 stainless steel corrosion-resistant properties can avoid rust and deformation of the window frame, prolonging the service life.  Resistant to extreme temperature (-40℃ to 80℃), heavy rain, typhoons and other bad weather, to ensure stable operation in polar, tropical and other regions with large temperature difference.  Widely used in passenger ships, cargo ships, yachts, research vessels, fishing boats, etc., to meet the needs of different ships for lighting, vision and safety protection.

Safety Precautions:

1. During voyage: When the ship encounters bad weather (e.g. typhoon, rainstorm) or high speed voyage, the porthole must be completely closed and the locking device must be checked to see if it is tightened, to prevent seawater from backing up or the window frame from being damaged.

2. Maintenance operation: Regularly check whether the sealing strip is aging or cracking, and whether there are scratches or breakage on the surface of the glass, and replace the parts in time if any problem is found, so as to avoid the failure of sealing.

3. Prohibited behavior: It is strictly prohibited to hang heavy objects or lean on the porthole to prevent deformation of the window frame; it is prohibited to use sharp tools to hit the glass to avoid the risk of shattering.

Marine 316 stainless steel porthole with corrosion resistance, high strength, easy maintenance characteristics, not only to enhance the ship’s internal lighting and ventilation, but also in emergencies (such as fire, into the water) to provide observation channels to assist the crew in decision-making. Its sturdy structure can withstand the impact of seawater and cabin pressure, which is an important barrier to ensure the safe navigation of the ship, and is also a preferred accessory for modern ship construction.

Through standardized use and regular maintenance, 316 stainless steel portholes can significantly reduce maintenance costs, extend the service life of the ship, and provide durable and reliable protection for marine operations.
